Daniel Gundert, married with five children, is the Owner and CEO of Gyminny Kids Gymnastics. A juggernaut children’s activity center with four locations and over six thousand weekly students has been serving the community since 1987. Daniel is a Nationally rated gymnastics judge and the founder of D&M Leotards, a children’s activewear company. Daniel’s focus is providing fun and fitness for all ages while building character through sport. Daniel acquired his real estate license to broker and acquire the properties Gyminny Kids operates on and help his friends, clients, and family achieve their real estate goals. Daniel donates half of his real estate commission to child-related non-profits. Daniel met his wife, Melanie, almost thirty years ago while they did gymnastics together as children at the same club in San Diego. All five of their super-charged children are competitive gymnasts, which has become a family affair. Start with gymnastics; go anywhere!

Laryssa has twelve years of cheer and six years of gymnastics experience. She is currently studying to be a nurse, which goes along with her desire to do great things for kids both in the gym and hospital. “This job gives me real-life experience working with children, and I savor every moment. There’s something electric about working in a facility that is always buzzing with activity. Gyminny Kids is POPPIN” Laryssa is a top-rated coach and mainstay at the front desk. She’s organized, efficient and friendly. What else could you ask for? If you give Laryssa twenty tasks, she’ll do twenty-one, and she’ll do it with a smile and a pep in her step. “Bring it on; I can’t wait to start my next shift!”

Nicole has extensive experience as a cheerleader, competitive swim team member, and Zumba dance instructor. She loves working with kids to brighten their day and because they also brighten hers with laughs and smiles. In her free time, Nicole loves to swim, dance, or enjoy a burrito on the beach. Fun fact: she has lived in Italy for two years and has picked up some Italian!

Alexa Solomon
Coach
Alexa Solomon was a Division One collegiate gymnast and San Jose State team captain. She has experience coaching all Junior Olympic levels and Xcel. She is a high performer in the gym and classroom, boasting awards such as All-American Scholastic and Dean's Scholar. She has a BA in public health and Kinesiology. Her well-rounded experience makes Alexa an incredible asset to our North County Gymnastics coaching roster. She is thrilled to take our team to the next level!

Corey Wood

Corey has coached recreational, preschool, and competitive gymnastics for over a decade. His experience ranges from program director to Head Boys Team Coach. Corey moved to San Diego from Seattle for the weather and to enjoy all San Diego has to offer. He starts his day with a gratitude list and believes in the power of a positive attitude. Corey is a knowledgeable, energetic teacher who balances fun with structured learning.

Dave Gerlach

Dave has participated and coached Artistic Gymnastics from preschool through National Championships levels for over forty-five years. He is safety certified and a nationally rated Coach with USA Gymnastics. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Cal State Fullerton, where he was the PCAA Floor Champion and an NCAA competitor. Dave has directed, coached, and owned gymnastics facilities in Southern California and Australia. His philosophy is building strong, healthy, happy kids. Dave is responsible for dozens of college scholarships and top-rated level ten gymnasts. He is excited to bring his energy and expertise to develop North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids into the best gym in Southern California. Dave is married with three children and lives in beautiful San Clemente, California. He is an avid surfer and loves bike rides up and down the coast.

Dave Moser has worked at Gyminny Kids since 1988! An experienced coach and a wonderful mentor to many students who have become coaches, including Miss Lauren. Dave, otherwise known as Mr. Moose, brings a silliness that the littles enjoy as much as his High School students. Dave is the Head Coach at Poway High School and won California State coach of the year. While Dave can still tumble and flip around the gym, his real talents come in the form of dance and classical ballet. We’re not done yet; Mr. Moose is a computer expert and a tech nerd that comes in handy as he manages the gym’s networks and keeps our electronics online. A man of many hats, Dave has taught thousands of children over the last thirty years. He is a gymnastics legend who has brought joy to the community for the last three decades, and we hope to have him for another thirty.

Meet Coach Elzbieta (Elizabeth) Pulkownik, whose illustrious journey in gymnastics spans continents and decades. From her roots as an acrobatic gymnast in the Polish National Circus, captivating audiences across Europe with her husband on the flying trapeze, to her role as a revered coach in Melbourne, Australia, and later in the United States, Elizabeth has dedicated her life to shaping the dreams and futures of thousands of gymnasts. Her coaching prowess has produced hundreds of state, regional, and national champions, earning her a reputation as one of the nation's most sought-after coaches. With an infectious enthusiasm for gymnastics and a deep connection with her students, Elizabeth is committed to empowering each child to reach their fullest potential. Beyond the gym, she finds joy in the simple pleasures of life - from spirited games of tennis to strolls along the shoreline, indulging in delectable cuisine, embarking on global adventures, and staying abreast of the latest fashion trends. Coach Elizabeth Pulkownik isn't just a coach; she's a beacon of inspiration, a catalyst for dreams, and a testament to the transformative power of passion and perseverance.
Gabriel Senter

Gabe spent eleven years doing gymnastics and competed as a high-level athlete. “Gymnastics is the sport that embodies every other sport.” He is an all-around athlete and played basketball as well. “When you do gymnastics, other sports come easy.” Gabe loves photography and journalism and was an overachiever in school. Gabe is the kind of person you want to work with your child; he is fun, friendly, and has a heart for giving back. Gabe spent time in Albania teaching children how to speak English and has helped build several houses in Mexico. That’s not all. Gabe has spent much of his adult life assisting with summer camps and youth programs at church and other serving organizations. We are over the moon that Gabe found a home here at Gyminny Kids!

Gary Johnson

Gary is a thirty-year coach of North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids. Gary has a background in Engineering and was a previous Machinist. During that time, Gary perfected the bungee bouncer system that has brought joy to thousands of children. Gary is a member of the illustrious Seven Oaks community located in Rancho Bernardo. During his free time, he eats pizza, participates in water aerobics, works on home improvements and watches Say Yes to the Dress. “Even though I have been coaching over thirty years, every day working with kids feels like my first day on the job. I just love this sport and all it has to offer.”
Kaitie doherty
Xcel coach
Fuelled by a passion for movement since age three, Kaitie flipped all the way to level eight and enjoys Olympic weightlifting, and All-Star cheerleading. Coaching beckoned early, guiding tumbling and dance at 15, then leading recreational and pre-K gymnastics at 17. By 20, she was choreographing for the Xcel team. Beyond coaching, she dives into literature, roller skates, indulges in scary movies, and revels in Disney's magic. My mission? Igniting passion, fostering growth, and nurturing love for movement in all endeavors.

Kimberly Oliver

Kimberly is a former National Guard and current yogi with experience in tumbling, acro, hula cheerleading, and gymnastics. Whew, that's alot! Kimberly is a high-energy, encouraging teacher who receives regular rave reviews from our clients. We are grateful for Kimberly's contributions as she adds a KAPOW to our coaching staff!

Micah Tutt
Coach
Micah wins the award for the most energetic, positive teacher at Gyminny Kids Carlsbad. He radiates! Micah has an associate's degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in Math and Science. Micah is an expert coach specializing in preschool, school-aged, and ninja classes. In his free time, he assists students with arithmetic issues and spends time with his family.

Nathan Darrow
Xcel Head Coach |Coach
Coach Nathan is one of our most revered coaches and has over ten years of gymnastics coaching experience, with eight of those as the 4S Xcel Head Coach. He grew up as a competitive gymnast and was training to compete at level 8/9 before pivoting into cheerleading. Nathan's All Star cheerleading career has left an international mark - winning 12 National Championship titles, plus 4th place and Silver World Champion at Worlds. When he's not coaching, you might find him on the beach (where he once helped save a beached dolphin) or enjoying a delectable steak. Nathan is thrilled to continue his coaching career at Carlsbad and can't wait to see what the future holds. We are thrilled to have him and look forward to continue seeing him excel!
Quin Shannon
Head Trainer
Quin Shannon has been coaching gymnastics full-time since 1984. He has owned and operated a preschool and PE gymnastics program, directed large recreational programs, coached Xcel, Junior Olympic, and Elite gymnastics, and was an NCAA Division 1 coach. He is a national instructor for USA Gymnastics and the National Gymnastics Association. He currently spends his time coaching the coaches, showing them how to teach great gymnastics in a fun way. Quin is a master gymnastics clinician and is world-renowned for his effective training methods. In addition to traveling the world holding clinics, he is the Head Trainer at North County Gymnastics & the Gyminny Kids. His hobbies include trying to surf, trying to play guitar, and trying to be a better person.

RYAN COVO
Carlsbad Head tEAM Coach
Ryan comes to North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids with a plethora of experience. Ryan was a strong level 10 gymnast, flipping his way into a wildly successful coaching career. Over the last three decades, Ryan has taught loads of state, regional, and national champions and is responsible for many college scholarships. He has an eye for detail and is considered a top Junior Olympic Coach because of his long-standing track record for producing well-rounded gymnasts at all levels, both boys and girls. It doesn't end there; Ryan is a gymnastics Judge, TOPs, and HOPES coach. He has coached three perfect 10.0s during his tenure. His secret weapon is developing young gymnasts by reinforcing the importance of technique, strength, and flexibility while building a foundation that often takes his gymnasts to the Elite level. Ryan's coaching style is firm but fair, and he knows how to motivate his athletes with positive reinforcement. We are lucky to host Ryan while he teaches all levels at Gyminny Kids, specializing in competitive team training and team coordinating. One thing you may not know about Ryan is that he has a flair for leotard and clothing design. The R in Ryan stands for Rockstar; he is on fire!

Meet Sabinna, a dynamic team member with a love for sushi and a passion for working with kids. From gymnastics to cheerleading and dancing, she brings five years of athletic experience, creating a well-rounded approach to coaching. Sabinna believes in instilling curiosity and fostering growth in young minds, drawing from personal experiences to help them dream big. Her vibrant energy extends to hobbies like painting and line dancing, making her a versatile and engaging mentor for your child. With eight siblings, Sabinna brings a familial touch to her work, creating an environment where your child can thrive and flourish.
Scott Zimmerman

Scott has a BA in Psychobiology. He has twenty-plus years of coaching experience and four years of Acro Power Tumbling. “I enjoy coaching kids in an atmosphere that develops children through positive reinforcement. Most of all, I love Gyminny because of the people I work with. We really do have an all-star cast!” Scott’s passion project is coaching the Rancho Bernardo High School gymnastics team as a way to give back to the community. In Scott’s free time, he enjoys music, hiking, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his wife and puppy. Scott is a famed local DJ and DJs events all over town. Scott wears many hats at Gyminny Kids, so you may catch him on the fly at the front desk, coaching, or teaching Zoom classes. Scott is a whirlwind of energy and creativity!
