Daniel Gundert
CEO
Daniel Gundert, married with five children, is the Owner and CEO of Gyminny Kids Gymnastics. A juggernaut children’s activity center with four locations and over six thousand weekly students has been serving the community since 1987. Daniel is a Nationally rated gymnastics judge and the founder of D&M Leotards, a children’s activewear company. Daniel’s focus is providing fun and fitness for all ages while building character through sport. Daniel acquired his real estate license to broker and acquire the properties Gyminny Kids operates on and help his friends, clients, and family achieve their real estate goals. Daniel donates half of his real estate commission to child-related non-profits. Daniel met his wife, Melanie, almost thirty years ago while they did gymnastics together as children at the same club in San Diego. All five of their super-charged children are competitive gymnasts, which has become a family affair. Start with gymnastics; go anywhere!

Laryssa has twelve years of cheer and six years of gymnastics experience. She is currently studying to be a nurse, which goes along with her desire to do great things for kids both in the gym and hospital. “This job gives me real-life experience working with children, and I savor every moment. There’s something electric about working in a facility that is always buzzing with activity. Gyminny Kids is POPPIN” Laryssa is a top-rated coach and mainstay at the front desk. She’s organized, efficient and friendly. What else could you ask for? Aide is a natural-born leader! She started as one of our rockstar front desk administrators and has the personality to prove it. She has a BA in child development and experience with special needs and teaching. While you will mostly find her behind the counter, she is also a dynamic teacher. She loves watching The Fosters, eating tacos, and making a difference in her free time. She is independent, hardworking, and direct. We are grateful to have her!

Meet Airyana, a true gymnast at heart who has been doing gymnastics since she was just a little hopper. She loves to go camping and escape the city for the great outdoors. When it comes to food, she loves anything Mexican or Italian. Believe it or not, but she can actually pop her shoulders out of place on command! She developed a love for the sport of gymnastics at a young age and comes to coach each day with the intention of spreading that joy and appreciation with every student she teaches.

Meet Alex, a trained circus acrobat turned professional muy thai fighter! He grew up travelling in Baja Mexico with his family’s circus and performed double backflips on trampolines at an early age. Since then, he has taken his raw athletic talent as an acrobat and become a professional muy thai kickboxer. He understands the importance of helping mold the younger generations for the best so that they can become great people later in life. When he’s not training in the gym, you might find Alex at the beach or watching the next big UFC fight. Alex is a natural teacher of the gymnastic skills that have become second nature to him, and enjoys passing them on to his students. We’re exhilarated to have him on the team and know you will be too!

Working with kids brings Bella immense joy, as she witnesses their incredible progress and growing confidence. Having been a gymnast herself at Gyminny Kids, she aims to create a fun and energetic environment for young athletes, just like the one she experienced as a child. Bella's athletic journey includes competitive cheerleading and coaching, adding to her diverse expertise. With over 15 years of experience working with kids, she finds joy in helping them achieve new skills and embracing their unique personalities. Although not a gymnast herself, Caitlyn's coaching skills were honed by passionate mentors. As a former cheerleader and gymnastics coach, she brings a wealth of athletic expertise. Beyond her coaching, Caitlyn's unexpected love for horror movies adds a delightful twist to her personality. Her enthusiasm and dedication make her the perfect mentor for young athletes. Chelsey is a full-fledged gymnast and ballerina. She grew up in San Diego, playing sports and cooking with her twin sister. She has experience working in the mental health field for ten years and has a knack for helping those with special needs. Chelsey is a foodie and can’t get enough Indian, Greek, Thai, and Vietnamese food. She is a full-on gamer nerd and has been so since Sega and Dreamcast. Chelsey used to be a Gyminny Kid and is excited to pass along the confidence, sportsmanship, and life lessons she learned during her time here.

Corey moved to San Diego from Seattle for the weather and to enjoy all San Diego has to offer. He starts his day with a gratitude list and believes in the power of a positive attitude. Corey is a knowledgeable, energetic teacher who balances fun with structured learning.

Danielle was a Competitive Gymnast for over ten years, qualifying for Regional and National competitions. She lettered in High School Gymnastics and went on to compete for Rhode Island College, division 3. Not only is Danielle a phenomenal athlete, but she also earned the highest GPA on the college team and was an academic All-American in 2006. Danielle has early childhood credits from Saddleback College, a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing, a Masters in Fine Arts Creative Writing, and Earned Fellowship. Danielle is the #1 best-selling Children’s Author of Tina’s Tumbles featured in US Weekly and People Magazine. She has a knack for communication and is blessed with the gift of storytelling. Danielle is a mother and wife, and Danielle still finds time to coach. She has been teaching for over twenty years and is experienced teaching all ages and abilities. Dave Moser has worked at Gyminny Kids since 1988! An experienced coach and a wonderful mentor to many students who have become coaches. Dave, otherwise known as “Mr. Moose”, brings a silliness that the littles enjoy as much as his High School students. Dave is the Head Coach at Poway High School and has won California State coach of the year. While Dave can still tumble and flip around the gym, his real talents come in the form of dance and classical ballet. We’re not done yet; Mr. Moose is a computer expert and a tech nerd that comes in handy as he manages the gym’s networks and keeps our electronics online. A man of many hats, Dave has taught thousands of children over the last thirty years. He is a gymnastics legend who has brought joy to the community for the last three decades, and we hope to have him for another thirty.

Eli is a flippin ninja! His background is in parkour and tumbling. In Eli’s words, “My life mission is to set a positive influence and encourage everyone to treat each other with love, respect, and dignity.” Eli has experience in manufacturing and construction, but Gyminny Kids is by far his favorite job because he gets to work with children in a positive atmosphere. “There’s nothing like the joy of jumping from roof to roof, flipping over things, and having the ability to climb almost anything in sight.” Eli is an energetic, super coach who brings the pazazz to every class!

Gabe spent eleven years doing gymnastics and competed as a high-level athlete. “Gymnastics is the sport that embodies every other sport.” He is an all-around athlete and played basketball as well. “When you do gymnastics, other sports come easy.” Gabe loves photography and journalism and was an overachiever in school. Gabe is the kind of person you want to work with your child; he is fun, friendly, and has a heart for giving back. Gabe spent time in Albania teaching children how to speak English and has helped build several houses in Mexico. That’s not all. Gabe has spent much of his adult life assisting with summer camps and youth programs at church and other serving organizations. We are over the moon that Gabe found a home here at Gyminny Kids!

Gary is a twenty-seven-year coach of North County Gymnastics and the Gyminny Kids. Gary has a background in Engineering and was a previous Machinist. During that time, Gary perfected the bungee bouncer system that has brought joy to thousands of children. Gary is a member of the illustrious Seven Oaks community located in Rancho Bernardo. During his free time, he eats pizza, participates in water aerobics, works on home improvements and watches Say Yes to the Dress. “Even though I have been coaching over thirty years, every day working with kids feels like my first day on the job. I just love this sport and all it has to offer.”

John is a high-achieving Office Associate with fifteen years of experience in the clinical and office setting. He has an AA in Business from Cal State Long Beach. John’s focus is on giving back to the community, and he decided to join the Gyminny Kid workforce in 2022 to continue his distinguished career. John enjoys sports of all kinds, including basketball and football. He is married with four wonderful daughters. When John is not at work giving A+ customer service, you can find him cooking, baking, and being Dad. “My favorite food is Traditional Mexican food. I enjoy teaching positivity and culture to the next generation and volunteering for community-based organizations.”

Justin comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fitness arena. A physical trainer and sports enthusiast, he’s spent years helping others reach their fitness goals. Justin loves spending time with his family and cute dogs, Digby and Ted. He takes them to Balboa Park on the weekends for fresh air and to stretch their legs. Justin worked at the I-Heart Radio station for one year and has been in radio for twenty years, including KFMB and Sports Radio in Detriot. He has a booming radio voice that serves him well as a coach in a loud gym. Justin has worked with children at the YMCA and has been a part of many youth camps. He is friendly, upbeat, and the kind of role model you want your child to work with. Justin is a Rockstar!

Karin is a native San Diegan with extensive experience working in the sports and athletics field. As a student, she played on the boys water polo team because the girls team didn’t exist yet! When she’s not at our gym, she likes to go to other gyms and lift weights. She admires Lindsey Vonn and all that’s she accomplished in her skiing career. Karin’s favorite color is purple and one time met Angelina Jolie at a country show! She thrives in the athletics industry because she believes in the importance of its role in shaping discipline and healthy living. “My favorite food is broccoli, by far!”

Meet Coach Kurt! Kurt is a world-class performer and has been on TV shows like America’s Most Talented. He is a master magician and was a resident performer at large Las Vegas Hotels. He is a wonderfully kind man who cares for people. He is an athlete and appreciates how gymnastics aids in a child’s overall development. Kurt is an expert at teaching all ages and has a knack keeping the kiddo’s attention with his booming voice and energetic demeanor. “While I am coaching, I am on stage, and I feed off the children’s energy. I am blessed to have a job where I get to make a difference.” Kurt is married with two kids, and he enjoys taking them to school and sporting events in his free time. Kurt is a family man!

She jumped into the sport at the age of six, a time when she naturally climbed and tumbled everywhere she went. She fell in love with coaching at 15, and now shares this love with all of her students as she inspires, motivates, and encourages their growth in both gymnastics and life. Meet Coach Luminita, a passionate and experienced coach with a love for a balanced lifestyle, indulging in hobbies like hiking, yoga, and travel. Luminita's dedication to working with kids stems from her belief in building confidence and teamwork, influenced by her own daughter's sports journey. With a lifelong athletic background in gymnastics, she brings a wealth of experience to coaching. An interesting fact is that Luminita hails from the historic town of Deva in Transylvania, and she had the privilege of working with five-time Olympic gold medalist gymnast Nadia Comeneci. Her nurturing approach and inspiring nature make her an exceptional asset in shaping young athletes' lives. We are grateful to have Coach Luminita here at Gyminny Kids!

Madison is a lifelong gymnast who started when she was only five years old! She continued gymnastics all the way through college and competed at level 9. In addition to her extensive personal career within the sport, Madison has ten years of coaching experience! She and her pit-mix are inseparable - she loves taking him on walks at the park and to dog-friendly restaurants. Even though she is allergic to sunscreen, she stills wears it to protect her fair skin. She’s a big fan of the great outdoors and hails from Southern Carolina. She loves the sport of gymnastics and wants her students to share that passion, embodying the principles of hardwork and dedication. We do declare we’re ecstatic to have Coach Madison on staff, and know you will be too!

Moctezuma has more than twenty-five years of coaching experience and fifteen years of competitive team experience. Mocte, short for Moctezuma, was a PE Teacher for five years. Mocte has a passion for fitness, mental health, and overall wellness. “When I feel healthy, I look healthy, and I want to share that with my students. It’s time we take care of our bodies so we can live long, fruitful lives.” Gymnastics happens to be the sport Mocte feels is the “greatest sport in the world.” Mocte feels gymnastics has it all, grace, beauty, showmanship, and unrivaled strength and flexibility. In his free time, Mocte lifts weights, runs, reads, window shops, rides his bike with his dog in a baby pack, and takes one exotic vacation every year with his wife. Mocte has two closets to fit all his clothes. He has so many shoes; he never repeats a day of the month. He has been all over the world and appreciates beauty and culture. His skin has a nice glow, and he’s often referred to as the “Most interesting man in the world.” When he’s not at the gym, he is sunbathing by the pool or eating healthy. Low carbs, lots of protein. He brings vegetable juice to work, and he has the energy to show for his healthy diet. We think he should grace the cover of Men’s Health Magazine. We’ll see. In the meantime, drop into his class. He’s one of the best teachers north or south of the border!

Coach Nick comes to Gyminny Kids with years of parkour and gymnastics coaching experience. He has an athletic background that blankets many sports, which makes him a fun, dynamic coach. Nick has two wonderful daughters he calls the best part of his life. He grew up playing tennis and watching Star Trek. Nick teaches gymnastics, ninja, and preschool classes here at GK. He is a crowd favorite!

Nicole Lucarelli

Nicole is a seasoned athlete with years of experience as a competitive gymnast. She began gymnastics when she was just a young child and stuck with it long enough to now be considered an expert on all things gymnastic! She’s a California native who was born in Nor Cal and moved to So Cal to be with family. She loves pasta and is an extremely talented artist of multiple disciplines. Her favorite part of coaching is the ability to work with kids, who she loves, and being able to share the wonderful experiences in gymnastics she had as a child and pass those on to the next generation. We are beyond STOKED to have her on our team and know you will be too!

Noah is a 4S Ranch local who loves this community and wants to give back. Noah is an expert circus and aerial performer taught by our very own world-famous Coach Rodney. Noah loves gymnastics and all things flying through the air. He is charismatic and enjoys working with children. Noah also is an overachiever in all things related to school, from ASB to student leadership and mentoring. When Noah is not on the trapeze or Lyra, he is here teaching and sharing his knowledge and love for the sport.

Quin Shannon
Head Trainer
Quin Shannon has been coaching gymnastics full-time since 1984. He has owned and operated a preschool and PE gymnastics program, directed large recreational programs, coached Xcel, Junior Olympic, and Elite gymnastics, and was an NCAA Division 1 coach. He is a national instructor for USA Gymnastics and the National Gymnastics Association. He currently spends his time coaching the coaches, showing them how to teach great gymnastics in a fun way. Quin is a master gymnastics clinician and is world-renowned for his effective training methods. In addition to traveling the world holding clinics, he is the Head Trainer at North County Gymnastics & the Gyminny Kids. His hobbies include trying to surf, trying to play guitar, and trying to be a better person.

Riley loves anything to do with fashion, art, and, of course, sports! “I love gymnastics and working with children, so I get to combine two of my favorite things.” Riley believes that gymnastics makes you strong physically and mentally and wants to pass that along to her students. She holds herself to a high standard both in and out of the gym and hopes her students follow her path toward excellence.

Scott has a BA in Psychobiology. He has twenty-plus years of coaching experience and four years of Acro Power Tumbling. “I enjoy coaching kids in an atmosphere that develops children through positive reinforcement. Most of all, I love Gyminny because of the people I work with. We really do have an all-star cast!” Scott’s passion project is coaching the Rancho Bernardo High School gymnastics team as a way to give back to the community. In Scott’s free time, he enjoys music, hiking, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with his wife and puppy. Scott is a famed local DJ and DJs events all over town. Scott wears many hats at Gyminny Kids, so you may catch him on the fly at the front desk, coaching, or teaching Zoom classes. Scott is a whirlwind of energy and creativity!

Meet Shayla Parenti, a former Gyminny Kid and North County Gymnastics competitive team athlete turned staff member, bringing her love for gymnastics and working with kids to her role. Beyond the gym, she's an adventurous spirit, tearing up trails on her dirt bike on weekends. Shayla's athleticism shines through in her cheerleading for Poway High School, where her dedication and energy are unmatched. With her warm and friendly personality, she brings joy wherever she goes. Whether enjoying spaghetti and meatballs or soaking up the sun at the beach, Shayla's love for life is infectious, making her the perfect mentor for young athletes. The program is called “Exploring Movement,” which gives students of all abilities to thrive in a fun, physical, and social environment. During her free time, she is a full-time Mom and Superhero.
